Decision maker

A decision maker is the person who can approve the purchase: in a small business the owner, partner, founder or president; in a larger one the executive who controls the budget for what you sell.

Finding them in data is a matter of evidence. Titles carry most of it: owner, partner, founder, principal, president, CEO. But titles also lie by accident. "Business partner" is a job in HR, "vice president" is often one of forty, and "assistant to the president" is not the president. A good search knows the difference.

The next signal is company size. A partner at a ten-person firm decides; a partner at a ten-thousand-person firm may not. Buzzlist shows company size beside every person and lets you set the band.

Buzzlist searches for decision-maker evidence explicitly. Ask for owners and it can require the evidence, so every result is one, or prefer it, so they simply rank first. Every search reports how many decision makers are in the people. How that works.
